Schleprok is SO SEXC

I could give you an update on my life right now, but I don't want to spoil you =). So instead I will leave you with some ish that that has changed my outlook on alternative hip-hop.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

My new interwebz buddy, Kyle aka "Double" from Vonnegutt has turned me on to Bernie Allen. For those of you, like me, who weren't familiar with the group, it is definitely worth hearing. Bernie Allen is the collabo between lyrical fire starter "Schleprok" aka Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes and the "unsung Hero" Sie 1 . The album is after "For the Kids" but before "Papercuts". After an extended chat with Sie, I more than saw his vision to revolutionize hip-hop; I felt it. Sie says he doesn't want bandwagon listeners, he wants people to really feel and think about the album. Bernie Allen is definitely underrated and you should really check it out. Visit the myspace and check out "EightyFive."

Sticking to this hip hop thing, check out this up and comer Ax. What really captured me was his song "100 to 1" He literally raps backwards from 100 to... 1! No choruses, no commercialism, barely any breaths; just straight lyricism on a DJ Clark Kent track. Rumor has it that he is in talks with Shady Aftermath....hmmm watch for it. Click on his name which will bring you to his myspace and listen to "100 to 1" for yourself.

Ok... I'm gonna watch an episode or two of "My So Called Life" and then get ready to see the premiere of HARRY POTTER and THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX!! It's at midnight, boy am I gonna hate myself tomorrow morning

Safe and Sound..

Wow, it's been awhile since I've posted. Hope everyone is having a good summer so far. I don't even know how to order the events that have chronicled my life as of late and I won't bore you with details. I am still doing my independent scouting, but obviously not at much as before. I am no longer directly interning for Stolen Transmission/Island and I have returned to my summer job working with children (who would've thunk?) but I assure you I will be back to stir up the independent music scene (fingers crossed). I have been blogging for the Stolen Transmission website and I do headline gathering for The Daily Chorus. Naturally I suggest you visit both sites.

My 22nd birthday is on Friday, July 20th and I will be having a party in collaboration with Stolen Transmission at Angels & Kings on that day. Hopefully I will get some type of promo flyer developed and it would make my day if you feel inclined to attend and buy me tasty beverages!
I want to give a shout out to Kyle aka Double from Vonnegutt. Remember that band I kinda dogged in one of my posts? Well I'm not jumping on the wagon I just wanted to commend him for handling my post with dignity and the guy actually has pretty good taste in music.
And lastly for now I want to bring your attention to two unsigned bands I have come across today:
1. Moving Mountains an indie four-piece from Purchase, NY. Matt from TDC posted about them and I gotta say they've got some pretty powerful stuff. I agree with Matt and the whole spiritual experience while listening to them. I would just suggest better recordings.
2. Safe as Houses I found this one on my own =). They are 4 guys from Goshen, NY reminiscent of Jimmy Eat World. I'd have to put it in the Indiemo Rock category but it really isn't bad and very easy to listen to. I suggest It's Always The Quiet
Alright, time fore me to get ready for bed =)
Goodnight!

Ms. Chang if you're nasty...

I only share this with you because I love you.

This past Caturday my uncle decided to make his 9-year relationship with his girlfriend honest. Seriously, NINE FREAKING YEARS! I dunno why she decided to stick around cuz as my dad put it, "She was in it for 9 years, he was kinda all over the place" Anywho, it was a LUV-UH-LEE wedding; there was FREE FOOD and an OPEN BAR!!! The dj and host were awesome and my family really knows how to party.

Now if you've guessed that this post is not about the pretty bride, the pretty cake, and the awesome food and drinks; you've guessed correctly.

In the midst of dancing and acting a fool with the rest of the Chang family I was so excited and really just couldn't hide it. The catering hall that hosted the reception came with a lovely package which included "Party Paparazzi." The photogs would go around and take pics of the guests dancing and such and then put them on rotation on the projector screen for everyone to see. It was all fun and games until I was caught. We were doing the soul train line to Simma Down nah's (Donna Summer) "Last Dance" and I decided to show everyone how it's done and the camera snapped. When the pictures were put in rotation, I saw mine come up and thought I looked really cool; the face was showing how much I was into it and the arms were perfectly placed. When I heard the entire room burst into noises of all kinds I thought, "well damn I must have really shown them" little did I know that I showed them all right. MY FRIGGIN NIPPLE WAS EXPOSED! My male cousin had to run up and cover the screen for me. I was mortified and the entire room turned to look at the girl in the Patriotic dress with the patent leather red pumps. My dad turns to me and jokingly goes, "Way to take the attention off of the couple Ms. Jackson." I believe I became the first black person ever to turn red.

When the bride's family table stared at, pointed at and impersonated me- I cried.
When the photographer and host ran up and reassured me that the pic was deleted- I cried.
When I told my mom (who was nursing my sister in the ladies room at the time)- I cried.
When I woke up this morning and worked up the nerve to show my face at the family bbq- I died from laughter.

This was the dress:

Whatchu kno 'bout me?

"the boys really like it, the girls don’t speak,
they, rollin they eyes, they lip gloss cheap"

Ok so I'm finally jumping on the Lil' Mama wagon, because well, she's... poppin'. This 17-year old's MC skills are way beyond her years but her lyrics are not. I gotta admit that I quickly got over her smash 'Lip Gloss' not to mention Avril Lavigne's 'Girlfriend' but put the two together and its GENIUS. Also, Miss Mama's remix of Rihanna's 'Um-boo-rella' makes the song tolerable. I visited her myspace today and she had 12,000 plays before lunch, go up her numbers!

Tegan & Sara's new album has been leaked on the interweb. **IF YOU DOWNLOAD YOU SHOULD BUY!!** The Idolator has the first track 'The Con' from their upcoming album of the same name, featured as it's Leak of the Day. Sample it because the track is FIRE!

For everyone in a band or knows people in bands please pass this on! TheDailyChorus.com has teamed up with Medilinq to bring a health plan for band and crewmembers (up to 15 people) for just $10 a month for a year if you sign up by June 1st! The plan inclues discounts on prescription drugs-- YESSSS!! Click here for more info and share the link!

And lastly, The Photo Atlas, The Cinematics, and The Bravery are playing tonight at Irving Plaza doors are at 8pm tickets: $20. Also, Sounds Under Radio (the only unsigned band on the Spiderman 3 soundtrack) are doing a huge showcase tonight at the Mercury Lounge @ 9pm tickets: $7. I will be running back and forth from both shows. Hope you can make it out!

Writer's Block

NO this is not a review of Peter, Bjorn, and John. I really do have writer's block. I literally typed and deleted this particular post 5 times. This is what I pulled out...

1. The Nightmare of You and I am the Avalanche show was great. I was a little freaked out at first because I wasn't sure if people I knew were going to end up at the show and it was at a synagogue; meaning no alcohol =(. Luckily Gurj arrived and the party began... sort of. IatA was entertaining, but I really went to the show to see NoY and they did not disappoint. The band did their biggest hits from their self-titled and a few songs that BLEW ME AWAY from their upcoming album. Seriously, keep your ears alert because that shit's gonna be tight son.

2. TheDailyChorus, "your daily source for new music" has something wonderful cooking. We are launching a program to send music to our troops. The goal is to have our readers-- whether you are a consumer, artists, or in the industry-- donate music to give our heroes a musical release. Please visit the site in the coming week for more details.

3. CIRCA SURVIVE IS RELEASED TOMORROW!!!!! Stream their entire album at their myspace and BUY THE ALBUM!

4. Lupe Fiasco's new track 'US Placers' featuring Pharrell and Kanye West, samples Thom Yorke's 'The Eraser'. Download it here. What do you think?

Buzzy Little Bee

I'm gonna take this moment just to spew words.

I have a few new oBsEsHUns, and their timing could not be more perfect!

1. BUZZNET.COM is probably the best user-to-user interactive thing-a-ma-jiggy to come across. Luckily, the dazzling Ms. Erica Are I helped speed the process along and invited me. The layout is incredibly easy to use and if you're a real music enthusiast it's the best way to pass the word on bands you love. If you've got an account ADD ME if not, I suggest you sign up. Unless ofcourse you think Myspace is the "best damn thing," you're also prolly one of those people that actually take the "are you emo" and "are you gay" tests....

2. After compulsively checking all of the accounts I have on various interweb sites, it gets kinda old. But once again thanks to Erica. I have a reason to put off actual work/sleep and scroll through pages and pages of the fabulous life of Ms. Shallon Lester. I can't even describe the genius... you've got to experience it for yourself.

And baby don't follow their lead
'cause you never know
Just how the story ends, or how the story goes
And you are so confused,
And baby it's just like you
To say anything else

So a lot has been going on lately, I went into the office on Wednesday, for what I thought would be my last day. Thankfully Eric begged me not leave, at least not until next week so he can buy me cookies and hopefully think of other "enticing" ways to get me to stay sans paycheck. The truth is, I DON'T WANT TO GO!!! but I need money. In the past 5 months I have really begun to feel like famuhlee and Eric, Jo, and Sarah have really confirmed that for me.
It's funny, I feel like Island/Def employees really know how to spring up and say nice shit to you when there is a cloud of resignition in your mind. After leaving the office on my "not-so-last" day, I lucked upon an elevator ride with Mr. Jay Brown (A&R; Rihanna, LL Cool J, Jay-Z...) and Ty-Ty (his right hand man). Ty-Ty introduced himself to me and then Jay followed. After admitting that I was only an intern and that I worked for the [his boy, Eric] I got the "We'll be seeing more of you, right?" and my elevator ride came to an end. *THANK GOD I DECIDED TO DRESS UP THAT DAY!*
Thursday after spending a good portion of my morning playing around on Buzznet, posting, and searching for a dog for Eric to adopt, I chatted it up with my friend Tim from Thedailychorus.com and he offered me a staff position! Yay another reason for me to stay on the internet all day, blog, and scout music. It kinda scares me though because my music opinion is going to get dissected, chewed up, spat on, or however people want to take it. But I guess I'm okay with that =) Sooo here is another place you can reach me if you have music inquiries CiCi@thedailychorus.com

My story is just beginning and I'm taking you along for the ride

Angels & Tigers...

Jordin Sparks is the new AMERICAN IDOL!
And Paul McCartney is writing his suicide note.... Did you see that tribute to Sgt. Pepper? EW

This Thursday is gonna be goooooood!
I get to see my wonderful interweb hotties @ Angels & Kings for the Cartel "Band in the Bubble" party. Sir Nicholas Snow will be spinning from 10-11 and then Mr. Brandon Reilly (yes... that Brandon Reilly) will grace the turntables with his skillz afterwards. However, from 11-midnight I will be at Arlene's Grocery scouting Sayonara Tiger (www.myspace.com/sayonaratiger ) then returning to AK-47 to tear up the dance floor.

Who is this Sayonara Tiger you ask? Well, they are a 4-piece band from Cinci, OH. Coran (vocals), really knows how to get to a scout's heart; through her tummy (he sent free Chipotle burrito coupons with his press-kit) nummmerzz! Their tunes are melodic and catchy, Coran says their new stuff is very different (and better) than their older songs. In all honestly that is a relief, but I definitely recommend listening to "Heart Attack" it's sooo f'n catchy! If you're available you should definitely go out to see this band! They are on at 11:30pm...oof- I know- but it's summa and it's the city!

oh and I HAVE A BUZZNET!!!
Chadidipop.buzznet.com

Minus the Music....

Stealing is baddddd....

I thought that I'd indulge on my last day of interning here at Island and import the new Minus the Bear into my iTunes (sorry guys) but I couldn't because they sent in a blank copy *oof*

Anywho, I am working up a nice informative post reflecting on my past 5 months of interning at the best label everrrrr.

No need to fear faithful blog readers! I will continue to scout independently and share with you all the good stuff I find. xD.

Also.... I am in talks with Tim from Thedailychorus.com and may be doing some work on the site. Thank you all for reading so far!!

Muah!

The music came first, the misery gave it meaning

The title of this blog is my answer to "what came first, the music or the misery?"
So tonight I decided to stay home and give studying a try... but once again music consumed my time. I'd really appreciate it if you guys share this blog and leave feedback on this post.

Chadidipop: the only person i can say that i truly love is tracy chapman

Chadidipop: she's a smart woman with a lot of circumstance
Sick Kid27: ooo good words
Chadidipop: dont get me wrong I really like the killer's music
Chadidipop: but i wouldnt say i'm a fan... fans understand their artists
Chadidipop: see a piece of themselves in the work of their favorite artists
Sick Kid27: they are nostoalgic. there would be no indie rock bands if it werent for killers, bloc party, kaiser chiefs, white stripes, strokes, hives, vines, and franz birnging it back
Chadidipop: i agree
Sick Kid27: and all the ones now arent nearly as good
Sick Kid27: its like wtf

Sick Kid27: dude emo is dead. so is hip hop
Sick Kid27: rock n roll is back now
Sick Kid27: as stupid as that sounds
Sick Kid27: i had a yr and a half of synth rock. booo sad
Chadidipop: i say why the fuck do we care?
Chadidipop: the major label music industry is dying so people are trying to put blame on the music they dont distribute
Chadidipop: "emo" is very much alive and its running through the veins of high schoolers that actually buy shit
Chadidipop: do i condone it? hell fucking no. i don't understand those screaming, whiny ass "emo" kids, but to each his own
Chadidipop: a lot of people are downloading shit because its "cool" to have in their music libraries. but they buy the shit they really want
Sick Kid27: def
Chadidipop: i guess i just had a musical epiphany sort of
Sick Kid27: oh yeah
Chadidipop: did i make sense though?
Sick Kid27: yes, sounded angry
Chadidipop: not angry... just raw
Chadidipop: im just sick of people saying you're this type of person so you have to know this type of music. and im sick of people trying to put one genre over another people should listen to whatever they want and try to expand their music tastes
Sick Kid27: i hear ya
Sick Kid27: im sorry??
Chadidipop: hahaha i'm not angry with you at all
Chadidipop: i have done it too
Chadidipop: ummm my sister is speaking chinese in her sleep

I get so annoyed

Seriously!!! I may not know the intricacies of putting together a good hit and when the high hat should be placed perfectly on a track or when the lead vocals should drop, etc. but I do know when a band deserves more attention! Like, let's say.... The Hint I've been watching these guys for awhile now and it sucks only being an intern because I'm sure they are gonna be the cause of a label bidding war pretty soon, actually they are amidst one now. They are the SWEETEST guys ever, I've only actually met 1, but they are always emailing me to say whats up and what not. Also, they are one of the only unsigned bands I know that have a 15 SONG ALBUM!!!! I keep trying to get Eric to sit still for 4 minutes so he can REALLY listen to them, but I understand he has a lot on his plate. Anyway, the band has just signed a deal with Freeze Management (Head Automatica, The Cure, At the Drive In, etc) I really hope for the best with this band. I cannot believe Eric is dropping the ball on this.... =(

I love you The Hint!!! I really do.

If Only I Could Graduate Now!!!

I'd be able to take a job with Island/Def. So until then I'll just be everyone's biyotch.
A week ago I came to the decision that I was going to end my internship this week so I can find a paying job. However, the people at Island know how to rope me in; Eric says I'm awesome, JB says I'm family, and LA Reid says "I'm the cutest thing in the world" SERIOUSLYYY!?!? So, I am currently looking for a p/t that will allow me to stay and receive such wonderful comments. Damn it, I had to brag just this once! Now back to business:
My wonderful friend Ms. DJ Trini Massive sent me awesome bands that I'm going to check out aaaasap! I am so excited to jam out to them, they just sound awesome!
I've been getting some feedback on bands that I've mentioned checking out and people LOVE. So here are links in case you want to jump on the bandwagon:
1. Peter Adams and the Nocturnal Collective: Very indie but so f'n good! I definitely hear some Elliott Smith but I've gotten things like Beatles meets Elliott Smith; I was thinking Coldplay meets Neutral Milk. Adams' falsetto accompanies his violin rhythms in atmospheric matrimony. Go to: www.myspace.com/peteradamsandthenocturnalcollective Listen to: Cementalisque
2. Bear Hands: I am really into this Brooklyn band. Reminiscent of the Detachment Kit they have really good guitar melodies and just enough distortion. I cannot wait to see this band live... I can't wait to just see them period; they have no pics. Go to: www.myspace.com/bearhandsband Listen to: Bad Blood
3. Vampire Weekend: A retro-indie rock band with a bit of calypso-like drumming. They are also a New York band so if you're in the area try to find them! Go to: www.myspace.com/vampireweekend Listen to: Mansard Roof
A band worth mentionting is The Ting Tings: Melodramatic Popular Song never made sense to me until I heard this group. The UK's diamond in the rough is definitely worth listening to now because shit could get big. We sat in the office thinking of all the bands that we can compare Ting Tings to (gosh I love the name) and came up with The Pipettes, Lily Allen, and the Mint Chicks. Eric mentioned Gnarls Barkley and I had to put an end to it. Not only are the songs catchy but the girl is HOTTT! "Little girls will want to be her and guys will want to do her" as so lovingly put by Joanna. Go to: www.myspace.com/thetingtings Listen to: Both songs!
People I need more feedback and bands to listen to!!! AIM me at Chadidipop or leave messages here!
Love ya!

I Was Walking With A Ghost

Ahhh.... I've missed you guys!!
I am just now recovering from the hell that was Bamboozle. Don't get me wrong there were a few damn good bands and I was with good people, but the scene was just not my thing; they don't call it Emopalooza for nothing. I didn't get to see a lot of bands because I was doing merch for the Oohlas and running around with Stolen Transmission, although I did get to hear Schoolyard Heroes! I love this band, they are the new addition to Stolen Transmission and they are just... great. Barely out of her teens, Ryann Donnelly, fronts this operatic horror rock quartet with a voice that pierces your soul. Their live show is absolutely nuts; I mean set climbing, banshee shrieking, dead awakening nuts. Be sure to listen to them... I can't wait to hear your reaction! www.myspace.com/schoolyardheroes
Monty Are I gave a face-melting performance as expected, but their 4 song set left me wanting more, even if it meant moshing.
Hawthorne Heights made a surprise performance and I think my heart stopped for those 30 minutes. I don't care what anyone says, HH is fucking goood! They sound great live, almost like they had the cd playing.
I haven't listened to Thrice since high school, so I had a few Darien flashbacks, which are good every now and then.
I was really disappointed with Kenotia's set, Carly's vocals were all over the place and the overall performance just felt flat. I was bummed.
I was pleasantly surprised with The Matches set. Shawn Harris has to be one of the most energetic frontmen of his time. I'm gonna have to go back and dissect Decomposer.
Overall, unless I have to go, I'm gonna be avoiding The Bamboozle. Emo punk is overrated and honestly... I don't really get it. That's not to say I won't credit a band when they have good songs and can sell out shows and merch, but I don't have the ear or heart for it. Well... I can't wait for Virgin and Rock the Bells!!
Yeah, I warned you... I didn't see that much and I was only there for Sunday, boo on me =(

So to make up for my lack of good reportings, I will leave you with three bands I suggest checking out:
1. Alpha Rev, one of Austin's best unsigned, this sextet is exactly what I needed after my emo-punk weekend. It's not country at all and they give meaning to Southern Rock. www.myspace.com/alpharev

2. The December Drive, another Texas band that is not country. TDD is Indie rock with a little bit of screamo meets spazztic syncopation. After a soundscan of their album Handslikegunsandcrashingsounds I learned that they were signed to American Jealousy records, but their myspace says they are unsigned. Keep an eye out on these guys. I'll try to reach out and get more info from the band. www.myspace.com/thedecemberdrive

3. Lenka, a solo songstress living in LA by way of Australia. Seriously, when I first heard her I got chills. Her breathy vocals are a cross between Dido and Corinne Bailey Rae. It won't be long before people start falling at her feet. Listen to "Chance" www.myspace.com/lenkamusic

4. I know I'm very demanding with the "listen to's" but I wouldn't waste your time, but this is the exception! Go here--> www.myspace.com/vonnegutt and tell me which indiemo/hip-hop band this group imitates. Here's a hint: It's Gym Class Heroes. They didn't try to hide it so why should I? It's so SHITACULAR I tried to turn it off but I couldn't. Listen to "On My Side" only because I'm stumped on which two Eminem songs they try to claim as their own original work.

My New Release Pick!
-Bobby Valentino's Special Occason . Why buy: Bobby still delivers melodic sensuality on his R&B sophomore. The songs are a bit more heartfelt and his voice leads you through a story of a man and the woman he pines for, albeit both are involved with other people. It's been done before you say... and although I agree, the songs are catchy as hell and when you listen to "Over and Over" you'll be saying "Usher who?" If you haven't heard it yet, visit Bobby's myspace and listen to Timbaland produced, "Anonymous"
-Listen to Bone Thugs-N- Harmony's "Lil L.O.V.E" feat. Mariah Carey and tell me it's not familiar....

And finally some news!

-This past weekend 20 employees were laid off of from Island/Def Jam and Warner will be cutting 400 employees.YIKES! Yeah.... we're all nuts for wanting to be in this business.
-Verizon is no longer associating itself with Akon after he allegedly displayed distasteful grinding with a 15-year old in the Caribbean.
-NIN Year Zero is number 3 on the Billboard Charts after Joe's Ain't Nothing Like Me and at number one we still have gulp... Avril Lavigne. Parents this is what your kid is doing with her allowance money >:c
-Pandora.com is now blocking users outside of the U.S. That's ok! everyone sign up on http://www.last.fm/ and friend me I'm Chadidipop!
-Rhapsody and Dischord (Fugazi, Minor Threat, etc) have made a music licensing deal.-Circa Survive's On Letting Go will be released on May 29th. CANNOT WAIT! Well I just want the real EP in my hand.

Well, thanks for reading! Look, Listen, LOVE!!

So far, I can say that this has been another great week! The InnerPartySystem is the new addition to the Stolen Transmission family. TheDailyChorus.com Launches at Midnight!!!

The question that really gets me when posting is, "What should I title this post?" I usually choose quirky lines, song titles/lyrics, or just demand you read. But now I'm wondering if the catchy title makes you want to read or if you'd read if I just said flat out... This is about [topic]. Either way, thanks for coming back!

At this very line it is 9:22 pm on Sunday, April 29th. The Daily Chorus website launches in 2 hours and 37 minutes and some seconds. I am so excited! Tim I hope you're able to breathe! He started it as a blog and it quickly gained attention from A&Rs, bands, and fans. The site will continuously allow bands, fans, and music execs to check out whats going on in the music world right now. I think its gonna be HUGE! I hope to submit some articles to TDC in order to help build fanbases and publicity for the bands. If you have any suggestions on bands that should be featured or listened to let me know or send an email to Tim@Thedailychorus.com Good Luck TDC!!!

Patent Pending's guitarist Marc is currently biking across the US to raise money for the American Heart Association. Please pass the word on and get your friends, teachers, families, and yourself to the website http://www.marcacrossamerica.com/ you can read Marc's blogs and donate there. Show him and the band your support. Also, the band will be touring at Penn State University on May 3rd and then Bamboozle on the 5th. visit their myspace www.myspace.com/patentpending

For those of you in the Newark, Delaware area that will not be attending Bamboozle, please go see Adelphi at the East End Cafe.

My newest indie interest is Sunny Day Sets Fire They are a multinational 5-piece band. They have a indie/psychedelic flavor but doesnt leave a bitter taste (yeah i'm trying to be descriptive). They kinda remind me of someone of another time but I can't quite figure it out. Listen to Adrenaline.

I want to thank everyone that has been giving me positive feedback and thank you's for posting. It really means so much knowing that you've taken some interest. I especially want to thank Coran from Sayonara Tiger for thanking me via im last night. Seriously everyone THANK YOU! But with positives there are always some negatives. I feel bad for the close-minded people that cannot accept new music genres. Also, a person's skin color should not determine what type of music they listen to or how they act. ***StacyMichelle, this is where you come in! Remember that first t-shirt task I have for you, haha? I'd love a t-shirt that says "Trust me, I know my skin color"***

The time is now 9:58. Basically there are 2 hours til TDC launchtime! Be sure to log on! And you know. Look, Listen, LOVE
Enjoy!<3

Because I Said So

and because I LUUUURVE THEM!!!!

My favorite band from Towson, Maryland. These guys are really nice and SUPER Talented!

"After all its the grass that looks so greeeen" These guys have a much more mature sound than the pop punk we're being force- fed (of course with a spoonful of sugar). The lyrics from their post Drive Thru Records days are eloquent and mirror their maturation, the hooks are catchy yet conscientious; hopefully they'll take whiny emo punk along for the ride. Guitarist/Singer Alex Sophocles has assured me, however, most of the "brilliant" writing was done in their "transition and [I] haven't seen anything yet." Well Alex... I don't know how much longer I can hold out

"The sun only shines, da da dada da da.... " Its more of a.... "beach pop" sound as my good friend and fellow batch (Mr. Reid the movie star) put it. HE says they're catchy and also finds them similar to Rooney (the band from Cali the birth place of "beach pop" i assume) I kinda think they are Click Five'ish but better. Anywho, just listen and tell me or them what you think.

Here's the Myspace <=== I love Aloha Bacon!

And their Wikipedia

I've seen them and they are awesome! Energetic, committed, and fun!Alex and Ryan are the guitarists and vocalists, live, they blend really well together.
Ryan is tall and blonde and a complete hottie, the high school girls LOVE him.
Alex, is shorter, has dark hair and is more of the frontman cuz he's the one we talk to mostly.
Alex has great swagger when he performs and my friend thinks he's got good guitar skills (even better than YL's guitarist . )

Tom is the timekeeper and his hair is definitely his trademark. You can't help but spot him during the performance because his hair is flopping around.

Matt is the bassist and he is the oldest in the group but he is so cool and very mellow.
In the middle of their set they did an instrumental intro into Junga Junga and it was awesome! They also performed a new song that isn't on their myspace.

I felt like such a schoolgirl when they played Aloha Bacon, it's my favorite, and Eric and I sing along to it about 3 times a day. I was definitely rockin' out during their set with one of their mom's!

If you're in the area definitely go to their shows! If you can't make it stalk them, I don't think they'd mind as long as you've got Sushi and/or Pizza.

Bottom line... I LOVEAdelphi!!!

Ciao Batches

Galang Alang

Today has been a pretty low-key day. I did some band searching, SPIN reading, and saw a show (but not the kind of show you're thinking). I've been juggling 10 thousand things at once lately, and it's starting to catch up with me I had my advertising class and handed in my half-assed GAP ad campaign that I didn't start til 12 am Saturday morning. Thats prolly gonna bring my grade down from an A to a B-..... ooooh well its done and now I can get back to the important stuff.

And the "Sister of A Lifetime" Award goes to me!
I was generously and miraculously offered a free ticket to the Killers show tonight but didn't accept. I know right?! Well my little sister performed in "High School Musical" at her middleschool and I promised her I'd be there. The kids worked really hard, and are a talented bunch for MS age. Sorry Brandon Flowers, but you don't live with my sister. Ofcourse, there were some technical difficulties but they pushed through. It kinda disturbs me though, that 12 and 13 year olds can turn a Disney show into something that oozed with sexual innuendo. Can you imagine what Bamboozle is gonna be like?

Speaking of, here is some stuff that I've been snooping through about the hormone enraged festival:

Confirmed by TRL
(but haven't been added to thebamboozle.com yet)
-Glass Jaw
-The Beastie Boys
-Thursday(Bearfort)*

---------------------------------
Bands decoded by Word On Street (WOS) (not confirmed by the bamboozle but pretty likely)
-Bowling for Soup
-The Cure (I don't now how likely this is, but it would be sssssick)
-Death Cab For Cutie
-Hawthorne Heights
-Lily Allen
-Ludacris
-Motion City Soundtrack
-Papa Roach
-Senses Fail
-Silversun Pickups (I would die to see them)
-Wu Tang/Method Man

---------------------------------
Guesses from WOS (not as likely):
-3 Doors Down or Three Days Grace
-Avenged Sevenfold
-Beck
-Chamillionaire/L.L. Cool J
-Cypress Hill
-Damien Rice
-Five For Fighting
-Jimmy Eat World
-Less Than Jake
-Lifehouse
-Matchbox Twenty/Sum 41
-Panic! at the Disco
-Rufio
-Simple Plan
-Tesla
-The Juliana Theory

Rumor also has it that Jay-Z and FOB may make an appearance.... I dunno about that.....

*****NOTE this is NOT etched in stone*****

It has also been confirmed that Nightmare of You will NOT be playing, but thats ok! I'll get to enjoy them on May 26th in Long Island and you can too!! Mr. Brandon Reilly has extended an invitation and I'm going out of my mind with excitement! Join me at Temple Beth AM in Merrick NY on the 26th to see NOY and I am the Avalanche!! Tickets are on sale at Ticketspin Also, visit Brandon Reilly's myspace page and listen to his soul melting cover of Sweet Avenue by Jets.

And lastly, my unsigned artist of the day is Outasight Looks are deceiving, this caucasian hip hop lyricist will surprise you in a good way. He has a fan in The Deli Magazine's Andy Keller and has had some material aired on MTV. Listen to his New York State of Mind, don't judge too quickly listen first.

Alrighty, I could go on but I'll let this settle for awhile.

Look, Listen and LOVE...

Oh wait!
-Remember to check out The Daily Chorus on it's official launch date MONDAY, APRIL 30th!!!
- Also, I better see you booty shakin' at STOLEN TRANSMISSION FRIDAY, this Friday the 4th!!!

CiCi

PS: I love Ultragrrrl (blog.myspace.com/ultragrrrl)

Yeah I'm stealing my own posts from myspace. But I felt like my new blog needs substance...

So with that said let's do thissss mannn. ( I fell asleep to Friday last night haha)

1. Definitely read the new SPIN mag its realllly good as always!

2. Check out A Girl Called Jane and be their friend on myspace. They are the new Chic (not chick) group on Island. They are a three piece group, the girls are beautiful, and speak 11 languages collectively. Be sure to sample their single He's Alive. Its so damn catchy, its the song you dance in front of your mirror to when you're in your intimates. www.myspace.com/girlcalledjane

3. WATCH this video by Say Anything, its for their song Wow, I can get Sexual Too . Ha... Eric actually put the volume on for this one:

4. GO HERE AND LISTEN TO TRACK 3 Yo Majesty's Kryptonite Pussy is the red rock; no inhibitions. www.myspace.com/yomajesty4life

5. The band I have seemed to overlook in my friends list: Middle Distance Runner. They are a five piece band from Washington, DC. Their music is earthy yet soulful and melodic. www.myspace.com/middledistancerunner I recommend Out of Here.

6. My throwback vid pick for however long it is for me to find another one is Saves The Day's Freakish

7. Two bands you should check out: the disco punkers dream Ghostland Observatory www.myspace.com/ghostlandobservatory and for the all grown up Wheatus fans The Chakras www.myspace.com/thechakras

I'm almost done damn it....

8. Ciara's video for Like A Boy is BADASS! Yeah she plays herself as a boy in it, but its not half as creepy as Beyonce playing Jay-Z in Upgrade You.

I STILL NEED INTERNS! PASS THIS ISH ON TO YOUR FRIENDS!!

Copying and Pasting is FUN!

Ok I was going trying to hold off posting but I realized I wasn't being fair . Besides it has been too great of a week to not fill you in; I don't even know where to start.

Maybe I'll start with the fact that Myspace isn't such a bad thing afterall. I've met two totally awesome people this week; Tim, the genius behind The Daily Chorus and Miss Stacy Michelle by way of Miami.
Definitely pay their pages a visit:
Stacy ---> www.myspace.com/stacynotstacey
The Daily Chorus ---> www.myspace.com/thedailychorus

You DEFINITELY have to check out The Daily Chorus website. The full site launches on April 30th and I am really excited! TDC is the A&R's dream come true. Tim assures me however, that he does it for the bands, not to get attention from A&R reps (which he does and its not so bad, haha). But more importantly its for the fans and music enthusiasts! Visit the site www.thedailychorus.com and get your favorite local bands some recognition!

I have a new obsession with www.icanhascheezburger.com it is wicked funny and cute and really good to copy pics and post them on your blogs and comments to friends. GO ASAP! you'll enjoy it.

Ok the bands you REALLY need to check out other than the ones I've already posted are as follows:

Utah
They are a 5 piece band from Denmark and they are pretty damn awesome. Very similar to Social Distortion and Radiohead. I recommend listening to Peace of Mind.

Sounds Under Radio
They are The Daily Chorus's #1 unsigned band. Listen out for their song Portrait of a Summer Thief on the Spiderman 3 soundtrack. I am obsessed with these 4 guys from Texas. Their style is too big to be unsigned; we all know that isn't going to last very long. Listen to Portrait of a Summer Thief. I LOVE THEM!

Sayonara Tiger
4-piece band from Cincinatti, OH. They are an indie rock band, but they aren't awkward. It's melodic and catchy. Listen to Heart Attack... ooh ooh aha! They are touring almost everywhere! Check out their page and find them in a town near you, or ask them to play!

I AM GOING TO BAMBOOZLE!! But only on Sunday so I'm gonna miss MUSE and MC Hammer and I'm really bummed yo. UGH school on saturday sucks!! Thankfully my awesome buds from Island will be there on Sunday so they'll protect me from the army of emo kids. I'll tell you my list of bands to see sometime next week. Or make your own lookie here www.thebamboozle.com

And lastly (at least for now) STOLEN TRANSMISSION FRIDAY IS ONE WEEK AWAY!!!! YAY FOR DANCE PARTIES!!!

Well those are my suggestions for the day! Listen, Look and LOVE!

Paz!

ps. Thank Tim for persuading me to start this baby up!

- Listening to music alllll day.
- Scouting online and live.
- Giving feedback on songs during the production stage.

Kill me I'm a blogger...

Hey Everyone!
I didn't think Myspace was big enough for my postings so I've decided to make another home here!

Well where do I start?

My name is CiCi and I intern at Island Def Jam/ Stolen Transmission Records in NY. I am OBSESSED with the internship, every aspect; the music, the people, the office. I intern for an A&R and he is just one big bundle of awesome. I basically sit in an office and search for music ALL DAY and I love it! I'm able to meet awesome people and make tons of connections at the same time.

I also intern for Sarah Lewitinn aka Ultragrrrl. She is the most fabulous person I have ever met. She gives 200% in her music and you'll usually find her at a show in the front row dancing her mascara off with fans; She is my hero! check her blog out www.ultragrrrl.blogspot.com She'll definitely have more interesting shit for ya.

Anywho, what are my interests?

- I listen to mostly indie bands but not the far out there shit that makes you want to walk through life backwards while every moment passes by like a snapshot. That's how I feel when I listen to Acid Mothers Temple & The Meltin Paraiso U.F.O.... see what I mean? Exactly. But stuff like The Annuals and Adelphi
I like most genres really but I listen to stuff either on UMG Stolen Transmission Ace Fu and Fueled By Ramen/ Decaydence.
- I love love LOVE to dance so anything dancetastic I will always listen to even if its annoying.
- I was a cheerleader in high school. All- American to be exact
- I was A UMD Terrapin for 2.5 years then transferred to Fashion Institute in NYC
- I get super stoked about lots of things. Usually more than anyone should
- I am of Jamaican and Chinese descent. I am tiny but definitely a BIG person!

oh... you're sick of hearing about me? Ok well lets talk about Stolen Transmission !
ST is Island's imprint label and includes some pretty tight bands:

Bright Light Fever

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

A band of four from Cali, they're reminiscent of Hot Hot Heat and a touch of The Strokes. These guys have an awesome live show! They believe that their songs "will save your life and kill you at the same time" pretty bold. Send them comments, they love comments. The album: Bright Light Fever Presents: The Evening Owl I definitely recommend listening to A Deeper Blue.

The Horrors

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

London's most stylish Halloween band. I absolutely LOVE the Horrors! They are dark, broody, and just awesome. Similar to The Gories and The Cramps. Their album Strange House is out now! They'll be in the US in May look for them! Listen to Gloves and when you're used to it make sure to scream out "AND I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE" along with Faris in your best British accent!

Monty Are I

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

MAI is a 5 piece band from Rhode Island with a band of awesome and loyal fans all over. Almost everyone I meet is a MAI fan now that I think about it. It's no shocker, these guys are awesome and super friendly! They are not your typical drums and guitar band, they have a trombone and trumpet and you see them play it on stage as well! Album: Wall of People Touring with Amber Pacific. Listen to: Between the Sheets and Tie Off Your Veins.

A Stolen Transmission favorite! Includes Greg Eklund (the former Everclear drummer) Olivia "Ollie" Stone, and Mark Eklund. Influenced by Juliana Hatfield and some others the band is fun and and indie pop delight! I remember the first night I met Ollie we were standing in line for the bathroom and I told her how much I love TV Dinner, we chatted it up for awhile and he wished me a good pee; BEST PEE EVERRRR!! Their single Small Parts has a spot on the Spidey 3 soundtrack. The Album: Best Stop Pop Touring with Lola Ray and then Hot, Hot, Heat in May Listen to TV Dinner and Small Parts.

Dan Hunter a 17-year old kid from Texas is the genius behind PRP! For a small label kid he has over 77,000 friends yet takes the time to respond when he can. Another fan favorite, his material is similar to Postal Service but it's so innocent and charming. His Frequency EP was just released last week! I can't wait to see the numbers. He is currently touring with Anberlin and you can catch him on the Warped Tour. Listen to Confines of Gravity and look out for the video!

Well thats the Stolen Transmission Roster. Hope you take the time to check the bands out and add them to your playlists!
